above the 1-year average

Computed from live world-market prices

▼ −14.59% over 1 year · the ratio fell: silver caught up with platinum

The platinum-silver ratio (platinum-silver ratio) shows how many units of silver you get for one unit of platinum, that is, which metal has become expensive relative to the other. The same figure answers the reverse question (silver-to-platinum ratio): the pair is quoted this way in both directions. Unit-independent: gram/gram and ounce/ounce give the same number.

How is it usually read?

High or low ratio

A high ratio means silver is cheap relative to platinum; a low one the opposite. Many use it to time a shift between the two metals, but the ratio can stay at a level for years, with no guaranteed reversion.

Two industrial metals against each other

Both legs here are heavily industrial, but for different reasons: platinum supply is concentrated, while silver is largely a by-product of other mining. The ratio therefore says more about the industrial cycle than about haven demand. Not a forecast.

Not investment advice, just how the metric is commonly read.

Rebalancing between platinum and silver

Both metals are available on a precious-metals account: you sell one and buy the other while your holdings stay in an insured vault. A one-step platinum↔silver swap is in development. Note: platinum and silver held with us sits in the Zurich free zone, so it trades VAT-free, VAT does arise on physical delivery.
