What moves the palladium price?
Gasoline autocatalysts
The bulk of palladium demand comes from autocatalysts, mainly for gasoline engines. Vehicle output and emissions rules therefore set the price almost directly, palladium is closer to an industrial input than to an investment asset.
Concentrated supply, geopolitical exposure
Most supply comes from Russia and South Africa. Sanctions, export limits or mine disruption can move the price sharply in a short time, which is why palladium has been so volatile in recent years.
Substitution with platinum
If palladium stays dearer than platinum, carmakers switch to platinum. The shift takes years but is a real cap on palladium's premium, its most important structural constraint.
The EV transition, the biggest risk item
Battery-electric cars have no exhaust catalyst and no palladium demand. As EV share grows, structural palladium demand falls. This risk has no equivalent in gold or silver.
Where does the price come from?

This price underpins our physical metal procurement, our hedging and your trades alike, always backed by real, vaulted physical metal. World and forint prices refresh in sync. The world palladium price is quoted per ounce in dollars; the Ft/g figure is derived from it and the current exchange rate. The forint price is therefore a derived reference value.
What is the spread?
The spread is the gap between our buy-back and buy price. Physical bars and coins add a product premium, proportionally higher on smaller units. On a precious-metal account the best (Premium) package is currently -1.9% / +5.53% around the world market mid, the others wider.
The palladium spread is typically wider than gold's: a smaller, less liquid market.
